Targeted Instructor Development for Operational K9 Programs
Not every agency or trainer needs a full-length specialty course or has the time to send staff away for 4+ weeks—but every K9 program needs competent instructors and trainers.
The General Train-the-Trainer Course is an à la carte instructor development program designed to address specific training gaps in patrol, detection, and/or tracking based on the operational needs of the agency and the experience level of the student, and the time available for the student to learn.
This course is customized to focus on what the student needs to improve, rather than requiring unnecessary training time in areas already mastered.
Course Objectives
- Evaluate their own strengths and deficiencies as K9 instructors
- Improve instructor-level skills in patrol work, detection, and/or tracking
- Apply structured, defensible training methods to real-world environments
- Instruct handlers with clarity, consistency, and accountability
- Improve overall program effectiveness while managing operational risk
Course Structure
- À la carte format – training blocks selected by need
- Duration varies based on selected modules
- Focused on instructor-level development, not handler basics
- Emphasis on problem-solving, evaluation, and instruction
This course is custom-built for each student or agency. Graduates will leave with measurable improvements in their ability to train and evaluate K9 teams, solve patrol, detection, or tracking training problems, instruct handlers effectively, and support agency K9 programs with professionalism and confidence.
Training scope, duration, and focus areas are determined through a consultation with our K9 training team to ensure training time is used efficiently and effectively while reaching your training goals and needs.
