Complete Canine Training Offers AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Training Programs and Canine Good Citizen Testing to Denver Area Dog owners
— Local Colorado Pups Can Take Their First Steps Towards Becoming AKC Canine Good Citizens®–
Complete Canine Training announced today that it is administering the American Kennel Club® (AKC) training program geared toward puppies and their owners and offer AKC Canine Good Citizen testing. The AKC S.T.A.R.sm Puppy Program rewards responsible owners who take the time to train and socialize their new puppies. The program is a natural precursor to the AKC Canine Good Citizen® Test. “S.T.A.R.” stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and a Responsible owner, all of the things a puppy needs to have a good life. The CGC program is an AKC umbrella Title program geared to ensuring dogs & their owners have a great life together both at home and in the community.
With 4 certified AKC evaluators, they can certify and test you and your dog for AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, AKC Community Canine (CGCA), AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU), and all levels of AKC Trick Dog.
“The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program teaches dogs and their owners the first important steps to becoming responsible dog owners and members of the community,” said Chris Pelle, CEO. “It is our hope to diminish the number of dogs in local shelters through proper education and our balanced dog training approach.”
To get started, owners can enroll in the many Board & Train programs, one-on-one dog training classes, or puppy programs instructed by Complete Canine Training trainers. Classes will include valuable training tips for dog owners – such as how to housetrain – and lessons on practical skills -such as coming when called, sit, down, heeling, and the place command. The program is open to all dogs. Young puppies can begin training as soon as they have the necessary vaccines and they can enroll in AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy at any point up until they are 12 months of age. The other CGC tests can be done at any age.
“Early training and proper socialization are key to having a well-behaved dog,” added Chris Pelle. “We aim to teach owners how to start their pups off on the right paw from the very beginning. Complete Training Through Clear Communication is our tried-and-true process and that involves both the dogs and the owners understanding how to communicate to each other.”
At the end of the training course, the instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test. Upon passing, owners and their puppies will be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program and will receive an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy package.
All graduates are encouraged to continue training and work towards CGC through Complete Canine Training’s group classes and advanced obedience classes!
Complete Canine offers AKC CGC testing for all of the AKC CGC tests including the Puppy S.T.A.R., Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine, and AKC Trick Dog. With these tests you can title your canine companion. Testing is open to all dog owners, not just Complete Canine Training clients. Their testing schedule is located on the Training Calendar webpage.
