Paula and Dave, Our family is so thankful to you for all of your help. At one point we thought that we might not be able to keep Chay. Chay had never shown any aggressive tendencies, not even a growl. One day my 12 year old had him outside on a leash and her friend came over. Her friend ran toward Chay, got scared, then ran away. He chased her and bit her leg, then immediately lied down (like he knew he did something wrong). It was bad, she needed 12 stitches. I didn't know what we should do, so I looked around for a trainer and made some phone calls. After talking to other trainers, Paula called me. I think we talked for an hour. She asked many questions and gave me a lot of information. We decided to take Chay to Dave and Paula for a free evaluation. The evaluation was very thorough and again they talked with us and gave us a lot of information. They advised us to sign up for the advanced obedience class. Chay was confused as to who the "pack leader" was when my husband wasn't around. We started the classes on an individual basis. Our schedule was crazy and we found that Paula and Dave were very flexible and did their best to accommodate our schedule. During the class our whole family was involved including educating our 3 children. Then we started the group class. When Chay mastered everything at group class, but was still having some issues with running out the door and chasing people,I was getting frustrated. That is when Dave said that we would be done at group class and they would come to our house to work on these issues. This was extremely helpful. They included our neighbors and again educated the kids in the neighborhood. I can now take Chay outside to play and he does not leave our yard, even if our kids leave the yard. I do know that we will need to continue to work with him and remind him who is in charge (he does like to test me). Even after Chay graduated Paula and Dave have been helpful. I will probably continue to bug them and I know that they will always be there if any issues arise. Thanks so much, The Kopcza Family |
