Q: Hey, My name is Sofia and I discovered your web site from Google. I have a few
questions about my dog and I would LOVE to hear some answers haha.

My dog is about 13 and her name is Princes, she's a mutt. One of my questions is
when I'm in my room with my door closed, she will always come, open the door,
stare at me n my surroundings, and then leave. Same if I'm with people in my
room. Why does she do this? Other times she just comes in and lays in my room in
front of my bed, and other times she'll literally follow me everywhere, even
into the bathroom. Why does she do this? It doesn't bother me, I would just like
to know why she does this.

My second, and last question is I have another dog Rudy, I got him a while after
I got Princess. She is not very nice to him, she barks at him, eats his good,
fights with him, and sometimes if we give them bones, she'll take his, or take
her bone, put it right in front of him, wait for him to try to get it, and then
she'll attack him. It never gets serious where they get seriously injured, its
more of a "bullying" thing. Why does she do this? Also, if I'm petting him,
she'll come and want me to pet her too.

If you could answer these questions that would be GREAT!
Again, thank you for you time :)

Take care,
Sofia Ercer

A: It sounds as if your dog "princess" has assumed the role of " Alpha " by entering your room and checking out you and your surroundings she is patrolling her territory, keeping an eye on her pack.In her mind she is controlling her surroundings. As far as her behavior goes with the other dog she is displaying classic " dominance" . This theory is based solely on the information that you have provided. In order to make a complete evaluation of the dogs behavior and develop a solution for your problem we would need to observe the dogs behavior directly.
